Australia
In January 2002, Andy travelled with the boys of the 254th Glasgow Company
of the Boys' Brigade to an international Boys' Brigade Camp in Sydney
and Canberra, Australia. It was an eighteen day trip where Andy was
in charge of the pipe band element of the trip, as well as some general
'supervision' duties.
The boys were one of the main highlights of the camp, according to
the other participants, with the bagpipes being a more than welcome
addition to the international flavour of the event.
Andy was asked because he already tutored almost all of the boys that
would be going and was once a member himself of that particular Boys'
Brigade Company. It was a learning curve for all involved, but Andy
has indicated that he might consider such an excursion again, if pushed
(not much arm twisting required we expect).
