Iain Melvin I have now been tutoring people of various ages and abilities since 1995. Alongside tutoring I compete, help manage both the second competing band and other elements of the band as a whole, travel and perform at various occasions. Apart from playing with the Williamwood Pipe Band I spend a lot of time entertaining at weddings, private and commercial functions and many other Celtic functions, both in Scotland and abroad. Since 1997 my piping has taken me round Europe, parts of America and even into Asia. I have performed under circumstances ranging from solo to playing with Samba Drummers and Big Bands. In this period I have left the country on average over four times a year, piping and tutoring in such places as the Isle of Man, Jersey, Dublin, Albertslund - Denmark (through town twinning), Mühldorf a' Inn (at Beer Festivals), Interceltic Festivals in Avilés (Northern Spain), Istanbul in Turkey, Chicago (for St. Patrick's Week celebrations) and marketing work in New York, Washington and North Carolina. Apart from piping and running a business, I am studying a BA in Business and Management, currently in my degree year, playing the odd game of football and going to the gym to keep fit, yíknow keep the old lungs going, itís all part of the job.
