Prince Charlie Uniform The Prince Charlie uniform is the one most commonly worn by the pipers of Piping Services. The Prince Charlie is a quite a formal style of dress with a short black jacket or coatee and a waistcoat which buttons around the middle of the torso. The shirt worn with this uniform is a dress shirt with a 'winged' collar and is accompanied with a bow tie. A waist belt can be worn along with a full dress sporran. The socks or hose worn are normally white or off-white/cream with garter flashes along with a pair of polished Ghillie brogues. The four full time pipers of Piping Services usually wear a fly plaid with the Prince Charlie. This is a piece of material in the same tartan as the kilt which is secured to the left shoulder with a brooch and hangs down to the hem of the kilt. A Glengarry hat can also be worn with this uniform however most customers opt for the uniform without this. |
